The skin is one of the most important yet complicated organs of the body.  It is made up of different layers and several cells, each playing a unique role in keeping the skin alive and healthy.

The cell division process never seizes to stop as we grow, as new cells continually keep growing and replacing the dead cells throughout our bodies.

That is why when the skin is dry and flaky; some pieces of it fall off. This is normal because skin cells die and need to be replaced by new ones.

Therefore as we age, our skin naturally loses this fine replacement process (of old dead cells with new ones) so it simply means that the skin tends to lose its natural softness and vibrancy.

However, you shouldn’t be alarmed and think you’re done at this point. Even at a later age, you can still maintain a young and beautiful skin by rejuvenating it to function at its fullest potential.

Below are 7 simple lifestyle tasks you can perform at home to help rejuvenate your skin;

  • Applying a skin toner
  • Applying an exfoliator
  • Making an exfoliating papaya mask
  • Making a hydrating cucumber and aloe Vera mask
  • Making a rejuvenating green tea mask
  • Making Colgate toothpaste and Vaseline mask
  • Applying CBD’s Apple Stem Cell Rejuvenation Cream

1. Applying a SKIN TONER

First things first, our skin needs to be clean. In order for cell growth and replacement to take place sufficiently, a tidy and dirt free skin is the real deal. Applying a skin toner makes sure of this by soaking up oil and removing dirt particles on the skin.

Wash your face thoroughly with a cotton ball before toning.

How to Use

  • Apply the toner to a smooth cloth or cotton ball
  • Rub the toner onto your face in small circular rotations for about 2-5 minutes
  • Repeat the process with new cotton balls or smooth cloths until you no longer see any traces of dirt

Note: Apply a toner after washing your face. The Toner should be applied before moisturizers

2. Apply an EXFOLIATOR

Exfoliation is simply a fancy cosmetology term which involves the removal of the old dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface

Like I mentioned earlier, the skin is wired to naturally get rid of old dead cells with replacement of new ones but as we age, this process tends to slow down hence resulting in what we know as wrinkles, and old skin.

This is where an exfoliator comes in handy. It does a good job of removing dead skin cells. However it should not be used so often (3-4 times a week is ideal)

Exfoliants can be both chemical and mechanical and both treatments help promote a beautiful and youthful appearance.

How to Use

Mechanical Exfoliator

This process involves physically scrubbing the skin with an abrasive (small, rough particles to sand away the skin’s outer layer) If you have oily skin, then mechanical exfoliation is the best for you.

While using mechanical exfoliators, simply rub your face in small circles by applying just enough pressure to feel the rough surface of the exfoliator

Chemical Exfoliator

This process involves scrubs containing healthy acids such as vitamin c concentrations, malic, citric acids, fruit enzymes which you can regulate depending on the needs of your skin.

Note: Apply about 5-8 drops onto your skin until it soaks in. Do not rinse off but remember to apply a moisturizer after the exfoliator has soaked into your skin.

Therefore by using chemical exfoliators, the skin’s cellular turnover rate is increased and dead skin is easily sloughed off. However, if you have dry or sensitive skin, some chemical exfoliators such as those with high concentration of vitamin c are not the best choice for your skin. So take extra caution and even medical support before using a chemical exfoliator.

3. Make an Exfoliating PAPAYA Mask

Papayas contain an enzyme called papain which aids in digestion. It is also rich in fiber and water content. In fact, it helps prevent constipation and a healthy digestion.

Use fine and ripe papaya for the perfect mask

The richness of papaya inside of our bodies is phenomenal. It contains vitamins A, E, C, all of which are essential in helping to exfoliate and soften the skin. For this purpose, making an exfoliating papaya mask is a great choice for healthy skin and one of my favorite facials.

How to Use

  • Mash or blend a soft and ripe papaya
  • Add lemon and honey and mix well
  • Clean your face and apply the face mask. Leave it on for 20 minutes
  • After the time is up, use warm water to loosen the face mask

Note: Apply this face mask thrice a week.

4. Make a Hydrating CUCUMBER & ALOE VERA Mask

Cucumber is very high in nutrients, very low in calories but rich in many important vitamins and minerals with antioxidants which promote hydration of the skin and body in general. A great skin health remedy to help rejuvenate the skin.

Aloe Vera is a very healthful plant. Just like cucumber, it also contains antioxidants and antibacterial properties and when applied on your face is truly godsend.
